check it out

“Don’t be afraid to be a fool. Remember, you cannot be both young and wise. Young people who pretend to be wise to the ways of the world are mostly just cynics. Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don’t learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us. Cynics always say no. But saying yes begins things. Saying yes is how things grow. Saying yes leads to knowledge. “Yes” is for young people. So for as long as you have the strength to, say yes.”

The "Truth"

So, I was watching TV as I tend to do on occasion, and sinc I wasn't watching PBS or CSPAN a commercial came up. I am sure you've all seen the type of commercial, a commercial for thetruth.com. Now I think these are the most annoying commercials on TV, I mean I'm all for activism but this takes it too far. One of their main contentions is that tobacco companies lie, find me a company that doesn't lie, attack oil companies that are rolling in way more money and are just as harmful. Then they claim that they lie about how harmful they are, on the goddamn box there is a surgeons general's warning, plus I am pretty sure I have never in my 22 years been told that cigarettes were anything but unhealthy. I'm not even saying I'm pro smoking I mean I have had the occasional ciggarette, but I prefer not to be inundated with the smoke. But mostly I feel that instead of spending millions on a national campaign to tell America stuff they already know put it into emphesyma research or lung cancer or something productive.

if you read it thanks for listing or reading my rant.

the local bar

Tonight was my last night of work before I move out to Denver. In the months i have worked there in that time I have realized the total social aspect of the bar culture. Today all my regulars came in because they knew it was my last day, and tipped me out well, it was all handshakes and hugs. It is an interesting thing I spent the last few months listening to their stories, rolling dice, and watching sports games all through the off season of the bar. The older guys all gave me advice while writhing in the jealousy of the ability to just take off. At the same time the guys that are closer to my age who have become my friends outside the bar as well had a different take on it, not only are they losing a good bartender but they are also losing a friend. I don't know if any of this late night half drunk rambling makes sense, but I do know that there is a family aspect to the local bar patrons who don't work together sit at the bar and discuss random topics, the cheers phenomenom is totally true. in fact I've decided it would be an excellent area of study to contrast local bars in different areas and find similaritys and differences.

Tuesday is no monday

I sit here listening to music watching sportscenter and trying to think of something to entertain the masses, and as simple as all this sounds the problem is compounded by the very nature of 7:30 AM. but hey random thoughts coming up:

Minority Report not so much a thought as a vaugue wondering, I woke up yesterday with an urge to watch this movie am I sub conciously attracted to Tom Cruise?

Wayne Gretzky I don't care if he or his wife gambled the great one will slice you.

b-ballin' I went out and played basket ball the other day and in the course of watching too many movies I am now ridiculously sore, also it had been a while since I played on concrete, I'm still picking gravel out of my palms, its really a bith on the masturbation schedule.

valentines how can it be this particular tuesday with out mentioning the queen of all commercial holidays, any holiday which doesn't give me any excuse to get drunk has no worth for me.

Kobe holy shit, I just saw a highlight where he passed the rock!

online dating hnave you ever gone to some of these sites and checked thier profiles, its no wonder they have to use the internet.

super bowl although I was at a house where the game was on, I spent the whole game eating and drinking beer but the highlight, totally won six bucks on the game, free money, free money.

taxes Fuck that!
