the local bar

Tonight was my last night of work before I move out to Denver. In the months i have worked there in that time I have realized the total social aspect of the bar culture. Today all my regulars came in because they knew it was my last day, and tipped me out well, it was all handshakes and hugs. It is an interesting thing I spent the last few months listening to their stories, rolling dice, and watching sports games all through the off season of the bar. The older guys all gave me advice while writhing in the jealousy of the ability to just take off. At the same time the guys that are closer to my age who have become my friends outside the bar as well had a different take on it, not only are they losing a good bartender but they are also losing a friend. I don't know if any of this late night half drunk rambling makes sense, but I do know that there is a family aspect to the local bar patrons who don't work together sit at the bar and discuss random topics, the cheers phenomenom is totally true. in fact I've decided it would be an excellent area of study to contrast local bars in different areas and find similaritys and differences.
